Woven light: cotton fine enough to float
Phulia cotton comes from the weaving cluster of Phulia in West Bengal, known for an exceptionally fine, gossamer-light handloom weave. Yarns are counted finer than most cotton weaves, giving the fabric its signature transparency and airy drape, often finished with jamdani-style motifs worked directly into the weave rather than embroidered on. It's built for heat and humidity, light enough to wear all day, sheer enough to layer and sturdy enough to last generations with the right care.
