Green holds me steady till the pallu blooms pink kalkas the way modhumalati climbs a fence, clusters breaking loose from the vine. Red diamond bands hold each bloom in place. Tassels crowd pink at my hem. I am Modhumalati, woven for the ones who bloom loudest and are evergreen.

Description

An Assam handwoven cotton saree in lime green. The pallu carries pink paisley kalka motifs framed in red diamond-trim bands, with a matching pink floral panel and diamond border. Scattered pink and yellow butis dot the body, closing in a mixed pink tassel fringe.
