Yamini: 100 count Phulia Cotton
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
I am Yamini. My body is the colour of the night sky just after the last light leaves and my border arrives in red the way a lamp does in a dark room. The weaver did not choose these colours carelessly. Red and black have always known each other, in ritual, in devotion, in the oldest stories told without words. My hundred-count Phulia cotton keeps me light through the day, settling into the wearer like a quiet habit. I simply arrive and hold the room without trying.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
Yamini is a deep black Phulia cotton with a vivid red border carrying dense woven diamonds and chevrons, a pattern the weaver has carried in his hands for years. The contrast is bold but considered. Black holds its quiet and the red border does exactly what it needs to. Made in fine 100-count cotton from Phulia, she drapes with ease and wears through long days without effort. The looped fringe falls in both black and red, a small detail that ties the two together at the hem.

Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
