Saree Story

Call me Utsavi, I was never built for a quiet day. My body runs red into magenta into mustard, band after band, each one loud enough to hold its own but somehow none of them fighting for the last word. A thin gold line keeps the peace between us, though we all know it is mostly for show. My border turns serious where I stay playful, a dense diamond lattice giving way to a rich floral vine in red and gold that runs the length of me without once losing its nerve. I carry kadhua work in every motif, nothing flat, nothing borrowed, all of it built directly into the silk. I show up expecting a celebration, and most days, I am the reason there is one.

Handloom Perfection

Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.

Description

Utsavi is a pure katan silk Benarasi woven in a bold stripe of red, magenta and mustard, each band separated by a fine gold border line. Her pallu opens into a dense gold diamond lattice that shifts into a rich floral vine border, both worked in kadhua technique. The same red and gold border treatment runs along her edge, framing the striped body with steady, unbroken richness.

Weaver

Although Naushad ji maintains a limited public profile, he represents the kind of weaving family that forms the backbone of the Mubarakpur cluster. Deep technical knowledge, family-run looms, and generations of experience in Banarasi weaving.

Fabric

Woven in pure katan silk, this saree has a firm, structured hand-feel with a smooth natural sheen. It holds the striped colour blocks and raised zari work crisply while still falling into soft folds when draped.

Technique

This is a kadhua weave, where each motif in the pallu and border is built directly into the fabric using the extra weft technique, giving the diamond lattice and florals a raised, textured finish rather than a flat printed look. The body carries a rangkat style construction, with each colour band set into the silk warp during weaving to create the clean transitions between red, magenta and mustard.

Saree with Blouse Piece

Full length saree with unstitched blouse piece; Blouse piece: 0.80 metre

Care Instructions

Silk rewards patience. Dry clean for the first wash. After that, cold water and a gentle hand. Never wring it, never rush it. Dry in the shade — silk and sunlight are not friends. Iron on the reverse, low heat, while it is still slightly damp.
