Saree Story

Copper does not ask to be noticed. It simply catches the light and holds it. Attracted by my warmth, my muse lovingly calls me Taamra. My colour has been here longer than most, the rust of old temples, harvest earth and the hour before sunset when everything turns warm. My tissue follows your body rather than your occasion, close and easy, the kind of drape that feels like a choice you made for yourself rather than for the room. When the light finds me, it stays. Just like my muse.

Handloom Perfection

Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.

Description

Taamra is the colour of copper at its most alive, that deep warm rust that holds both red and gold without committing to either. Large golden cutwork butis are scattered across her tissue body with the ease of something that has always belonged there, each one catching light differently from the gold jaal border that frames her edges. The tissue silk drapes without resistance, settling close to the body the way warmth does. She is festive without being obvious about it and beautiful without needing to announce it.

Weaver

In the handloom neighbourhood of Varanasi, where generations of weaving families have shaped the silk heritage, National Award-winning master weaver Abu Talib Ansari Ji brings the intricate tissue Banarasis to life, revealing the skills that have defined his family’s craft for generations.

Fabric

Woven in pure tissue, this Banarasi holds light as though it were part of the weave itself. Its luminosity does not sit on the surface. It rises softly from within. It settles close to the body like a second skin, never stiff, never poufy, never excessive.

Technique

The scattered golden butis are woven using the cutwork technique, each floral form built individually into the tissue ground with threads cut clean between motifs, leaving no weight behind. The border and pallu carry a dense gold floral jaal, layered and continuous, framing the rust body with structured abundance.

Saree with Blouse Piece

Care Instructions

Silk rewards patience. Dry clean for the first wash. After that, cold water and a gentle hand. Never wring it, never rush it. Dry in the shade — silk and sunlight are not friends. Iron on the reverse, low heat, while it is still slightly damp.
