Syahi: Phulia Cotton with Jute Pallu
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
Syahi is my name, the deep ink blue that poets dip their pens into. Like silver lines on a fresh page, fine threads of jute run across my body. Phulia lent me its gentle cotton, so I rest on the skin as softly as a folded letter. At my pallu the ink fades into a misty grey band of handwoven jute, textured like handmade paper. Wear me and let every drape write a new story.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
A Phulia handloom cotton saree in a rich ink blue, light and breathable for everyday drape. The body carries bands of fine jute pinstripes, framed by a natural jute border. The pallu features a wide handwoven jute band in a soft blue-grey with natural slub texture, framed in ink blue. Finished with hand-twisted tassels in ink blue.
Weaver
Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
