Sorshe: 100 count Phulia Cotton
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
Mustard is my canvas, golden as Bengal’s fields in full winter bloom. Along my edge, a maroon border settles in like warm earth beneath the flowers. A resham band of black floral motifs runs between them, close and careful. Unfold my pallu and rust bands ripple across the gold in soft rows. Fine pinstripes frame them, featherlight against the skin. I am Sorshe, sunshine woven into cotton.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
A Phulia handloom cotton saree in warm mustard with a wide maroon border. A woven resham band of floral motifs in black runs alongside. The pallu carries broad rust bands framed by fine pinstripes across the mustard canvas. Hand-knotted tassels in mustard and maroon finish the end. Woven in fine 100-count Phulia cotton, she drapes softly and breathes through the day.
Weaver
Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Fabric
Crafted from fine 100-count cotton yarn, prized for its exceptional softness, airy drape and feather-light feel. The finer the count, the finer the yarn—creating a fabric that is breathable without feeling coarse, with a graceful fall that only improves with every wash.
Technique
Saree with Blouse Piece
This saree doesn't come with a blouse piece. A sleeveless or short-sleeved blouse in black or crimson red complements this saree beautifully, creating an elegant, timeless silhouette.
Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish. Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
