Saree Story

A bold and bright colour, Nilambari is what they call me. I enter a room to have all eyes centred on me. Twilight and confidence, woven into one length of silk. Fine checks in vairusi weave adorn me, giving me a depth that has seen more seasons than it chooses to count. My gold border along with each medallion in my reta pett lattice is a small announcement, row after row, none of them whispering. Temple peaks line my edges like an audience that has already decided to applaud. I do not wait for an occasion. I am the occasion.

Handloom Perfection

Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.

Description

A pure Kanjeevaram silk saree in a bright leaf green, ruled through with fine gold pinstripes and scattered with hanging jhumka (bell-drop) buttis in gold zari. The border and pallu deepen into a rich wine-maroon, worked in a dense kumbham (temple-arch) pattern on the border and a flowing floral vine along the pallu.

Weaver

A community of master weavers and younger artisans in Kanchipuram, carrying forward a living heritage passed from one generation to the next, not in training centres but at the loom.

Care Instructions

Silk rewards patience. Dry clean for the first wash. After that, cold water and a gentle hand. Never wring it, never rush it. Dry in the shade — silk and sunlight are not friends. Iron on the reverse, low heat, while it is still slightly damp.
