Retika: 100 count Phulia Cotton
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
Retika is my name, golden as desert sands warmed by the sun. Black paisleys are scattered across my body like footprints left on a dune. Phulia cotton keeps me light and soft, an easy elegance that carries through the day. A bold black border runs along my edge, finished with a slender line of maroon, and my pallu blooms with larger paisleys between bands of fine black stripes. Earthy, assured and quietly striking.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
A Phulia handloom cotton saree in a warm sand beige, light and breathable for everyday drape. Black paisley buttis are woven across the body, with a wide black border edged in maroon along one side. The pallu features larger black paisleys framed by bands of fine black stripes, finished with hand-twisted tassels in sand. Equally charming at the workplace, a cultural evening or a festive get-together.
Weaver
Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Fabric
Crafted from fine 100-count cotton yarn, prized for its exceptional softness, airy drape and feather-light feel. The finer the count, the finer the yarn—creating a fabric that is breathable without feeling coarse, with a graceful fall that only improves with every wash.

Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
