Neelam: 100 count Phulia Cotton
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
Somewhere in Phulia, a loom held a sapphire up to the light and decided to weave its colour. My weaver ran fine threads of olive gold across the blue, one soft band after another, like lines on a letter still being written. Touch me and you will find cool cotton, featherlight and easy against the skin. Along my edge, a twisted rope of resham turns between rows of tiny temple peaks, keeping time with every step you take. My pallu ends in tassels of blue and mustard that swing each time you laugh. I am a jewel you get to wear all day.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
A Phulia handloom cotton saree in a rich sapphire blue, woven light and breathable for easy everyday drape. The body is a clean solid canvas finished with fine olive-gold pinstripe bands at the top. The border pairs a woven resham braid motif, framed by rows of temple triangles, with a broad olive-mustard band lit by bright yellow stripes. The pallu carries repeated pinstripe bands across the blue and finishes in hand-twisted tassels of blue and mustard.

Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Fabric
Crafted from fine 100-count cotton yarn, prized for its exceptional softness, airy drape and feather-light feel. The finer the count, the finer the yarn—creating a fabric that is breathable without feeling coarse, with a graceful fall that only improves with every wash.
Technique
Saree with Blouse Piece
This saree does not come with a blouse piece. We recommend pairing it with a sleeveless or short-sleeved blouse in body or border colour.
Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
