Mrinalini: 100 count Phulia Cotton
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
I am Mrinalini. You may notice my colour first. Most people do. A violet deep enough to feel regal, softened by an ivory pallu that refuses to compete with it. We understand each other. One speaks, the other listens. I belong to the looms of Phulia, where a hundred-count cotton is woven not for display but for living. Every thread is drawn fine enough to breathe through summer afternoons, yet woven firmly enough to stay with you for years. There is nothing hurried about how I am made. My stripes are measured. My border is disciplined. I have no elaborate motifs asking to be admired. I have learnt that restraint often leaves the strongest impression. I am the saree you reach for when confidence needs no announcement. Boardroom or bookshop, celebration or solitude, I adapt without ever changing who I am.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
Royal violet meets the softness of natural ivory in a composition that feels timeless rather than seasonal. Fine rose-gold stripes lend rhythm across the body, while the delicately woven border frames the drape with quiet precision. Woven in 100-count Phulia cotton, Mrinalini is remarkably light, breathable and fluid. The fine yarn allows the fabric to fall effortlessly while retaining the crispness that only an authentic handloom can offer. It is a saree that never demands attention, yet somehow keeps it.
Weaver
Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Fabric
Crafted from fine 100-count cotton yarn, prized for its exceptional softness, airy drape and feather-light feel. The finer the count, the finer the yarn—creating a fabric that is breathable without feeling coarse, with a graceful fall that only improves with every wash.
Technique
Saree with Blouse Piece
This saree does not come with a blouse piece. We recommend pairing it with a sleeveless or short-sleeved blouse in royal purple or soft ivory. The combination preserves the saree's understated elegance.
Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
