Mahi: 100 count Phulia Cotton
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
River mist rising over Phulia at the start of the monsoon gave me my soft grey calm. Through it, my weaver cut a stream of bright aqua water. On either bank, little fish in royal blue resham swim between tiny star flowers, a Bengali blessing of plenty. Rows of temple peaks keep watch along my edge, fine and featherlight against the skin. I am a quiet river carrying good fortune.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
A Phulia handloom cotton saree in soft misty grey, light and breathable for graceful everyday drape. A bright aqua border runs between twin resham bands of royal blue fish and star-flower motifs. Fine temple triangles edge the border where it meets the body. A fresh, understated pairing of cool greys and water blues. Gentle hand wash in cold water or dry clean.

Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
