Saree Story

I am Kusum. I carry the colour of blossoms that never ask permission to bloom. My fuchsia speaks with quiet confidence, while my blush pallu reminds it that elegance is never loud. Woven in the hundred-count cotton of Phulia, I am light enough to become part of your everyday rituals, yet special enough to return for every celebration. I do not chase attention. Like a flower in full bloom, I simply make it impossible to look away.

Handloom Perfection

Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.

Description

A luminous fuchsia body unfolds into a soft blush-pink pallu, framed by finely woven geometric borders and delicate stripes that lend rhythm to the drape. The colours are joyful yet sophisticated, creating a saree that feels equally at home at a festive brunch, an intimate celebration or a leisurely afternoon. Handwoven in 100-count Phulia cotton, Kusumita is light as air, remarkably breathable and beautifully fluid. Its fine yarn allows the fabric to fall effortlessly while preserving the unmistakable crispness of authentic Phulia handloom—a saree that celebrates simplicity with extraordinary finesse.

Weaver

Some of the designs woven in Phulia today were woven before partition, in a village that no longer exists on any map. They crossed the border not in a suitcase but in the memory of the weavers who carried them. That is what you wear when you wear a Phulia saree. Not just cloth. A memory that survived.

Days to make the saree

Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Fabric

Crafted from fine 100-count cotton yarn, prized for its exceptional softness, airy drape and feather-light feel. The finer the count, the finer the yarn—creating a fabric that is breathable without feeling coarse, with a graceful fall that only improves with every wash.

Technique

A 100-count Phulia cotton begins long before the first thread meets the loom. Fine cotton yarn is washed, starched and carefully stretched into a warp that leaves little room for error. Every pass of the shuttle demands unwavering rhythm and remarkable precision. The resham or zari border is not added later; it is woven into the saree itself, motif by motif, as the jacquard works in quiet harmony with the weaver's hands.
What feels effortless when draped is, in truth, the result of thousands of deliberate movements. Every inch carries the patience of the artisan, preserving a weaving tradition that has travelled across generations.

Saree with Blouse Piece

This saree does not come with a blouse piece. We recommend pairing it with a sleeveless or short-sleeved blouse in fuchsia pink for a bold monochromatic look, or blush pink for a softer, more understated elegance. Both combinations create a timeless, refined silhouette.

Care Instructions

First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
