Saree Story

Skin remembers me longer than eyes do, the kind of cotton that lingers as a feeling after it's been folded away. My pink carries the shade of a first hush, the colour before a word is spoken. Yellow and red buta wander across me without pattern, scattered the way affection is, unplanned and everywhere at once. At my centre, paisley gathers soft against soft, no sharp edge anywhere to interrupt it. Red checkered borders keep watch above and below, quiet enough not to compete with all that gentleness. My tassels hang loose in pink and red, close enough to brush skin with every step. I am Komal, woven for the ones who love slowly.

Handloom Perfection

Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.

Description

An Assam handwoven cotton saree in blush pink. Small buta in yellow, pink, magenta and red are scattered freely across the body, framed by a paisley band in tonal pink flanked by red checkered borders. The saree closes in a mixed tassel fringe of pink, magenta and red, tied in loose clusters.

Weaver

A Weavers Nest by Susant Ji works closely with weaving communities across Assam and the wider Northeast, sourcing textiles rooted in the region's culture and its natural fibres.Exists to keep old age techniques alive, rather than letting the craft's identity dissolve into a generic "handloom" label.

Care Instructions

Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
