Saree Story

Mine is the yellow of a ripe mango caught in afternoon light, warm enough to be mistaken for saffron, though I know exactly what I am. Down my length run pinstripes of gold, fine and evenly spaced, like a field marked out in straight rows. Have you noticed how a border can rise like flame? Mine does, maroon and gold peaks climbing one after another, sharp and deliberate, before settling into a quiet olive green band. Then maroon returns at my very edge, holding everything in place the way a good border always should. My weaver gave me the colour first and let the border earn its keep. I am Kesar, mango yellow at heart, saffron only in the way I catch the light.

Handloom Perfection

Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.

Description

A pure handwoven Kanchipuram cotton in a bright saffron canvas, ruled through with fine gold pinstripes running the length of the body. The border rises in a dense temple flame motif in maroon and gold, settling into an olive green band before the maroon returns at the edge. Comes with blouse piece.

Weaver

A community of master weavers and younger artisans in Kanchipuram, carrying forward a living heritage passed from one generation to the next, not in training centres but at the loom.

Fabric

Pure handspun cotton, soft against the skin and light enough for everyday wear. The weave holds its shape through the day without losing the crispness that good cotton is known for, breathable in the warmth, easy to drape, and built to only get softer with every wash.

Technique

Handwoven on traditional pit looms in the Kanchipuram cluster, this saree is woven in pure cotton, carrying the same discipline and craftsmanship of Kanchipuram's silk weaving tradition. Every thread is handspun cotton, woven start to finish without a single machine touch.

Saree with Blouse Piece

Yes, comes with a running blouse piece

Care Instructions

First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
