Gulbahar: Royal Katan Silk Kadhuwa Benarasi
By Naushad Ji
Saree Story
Gulbahar, they called me, for the roses that bloom all over my blue. Each little rose on me was woven by hand in silver zari, a leaf resting beside it like a whisper. Drape me and feel katan silk glide cool and supple, catching light in every fold. A zigzag of silver runs along my hem, leading into a pallu that shimmers like a tiled courtyard. Bold, bright and joyful, I carry a garden wherever I go.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
A pure katan silk Banarasi in vivid cobalt blue, handwoven on the looms of Banaras. Kadhua rose buttas with delicate leaves are woven in zari across a lustrous silk canvas. The border carries a geometric zigzag band studded with rudraksham motifs. The pallu glows with a dense zari trellis of rudraksham motifs, edged with fine zari pinstripes. A vibrant heirloom for weddings, festive evenings and grand celebrations.

Fabric
Katan is pure mulberry silk woven with twisted silk filaments in warp and weft. This twist lends strength, a smooth hand and a rich natural lustre. The fabric drapes fluidly with a soft body and graceful weight. Its dense, even surface makes it the classic canvas for Banarasi zari work.

Care Instructions
Silk rewards patience. Dry clean for the first wash. After that, cold water and a gentle hand. Never wring it, never rush it. Dry in the shade — silk and sunlight are not friends. Iron on the reverse, low heat, while it is still slightly damp.
