Dhani: Phulia Cotton with Jute Pallu
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
Young paddy fields swaying across rural Bengal after the first rains gave my body its soft pistachio green. Along my edge, stripes of emerald, mint and deep bottle green ripple like water in the irrigation channels. My pallu gathers bands of leaf green around a wide band of pale golden jute, textured like ripening grain. Finely lined and featherlight, I drape with the ease of a breeze through the fields. I am the promise of a good harvest.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
A Phulia handloom cotton saree in soft pistachio green with a fine self-stripe texture, light and breathable for everyday drape. The border is a layered play of emerald, bottle green, mint and olive stripes. The pallu features bands of leaf green and emerald framing a wide handwoven jute band with natural slub texture. Finished with hand-twisted tassels in pistachio and green. Gentle hand wash in cold water or dry clean.
Weaver
Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
