Dhanak: Phulia Cotton with Jute Pallu
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
After a monsoon shower, a rainbow stretched across the sky and my weaver caught every colour in my border. Maroon, marigold, teal and royal blue stand shoulder to shoulder in bold, joyful stripes. My pallu softens into baby pastels of rose, peach and powder blue around a wide band of earthy golden jute. My body stays a calm ivory, finely lined and featherlight against the skin. I am every colour of happiness in one drape.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
A Phulia handloom cotton saree in soft grey ivory with a fine self-stripe texture, light and breathable for everyday drape. The border is a vibrant play of maroon, marigold, teal, blue and grey stripes. The pallu features pastel bands of rose, peach and powder blue framing a wide handwoven jute band with natural slub texture. Finished with hand-twisted multicolour tassels. Gentle hand wash in cold water or dry clean.

Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Fabric
Crafted from fine 100-count cotton yarn, prized for its exceptional softness, airy drape and feather-light feel. The finer the count, the finer the yarn—creating a fabric that is breathable without feeling coarse, with a graceful fall that only improves with every wash.

Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
