Chiriya: Teal Kanjeevaram with Threadwork Bird Motifs
By Kanchipuram Master Weavers
Saree Story
They named me Chiriya, for the small bird that arrives without warning and stays long enough to be remembered. I am teal the way water turns teal just before it deepens, fine zari lines running through me like light on a current. At my border I open into magenta, and there my birds arrive, small and colourful, perched mid-song among grapes and leaves worked entirely in gold. Each bird wears its own colour, a rare thing in a saree that otherwise speaks in gold and teal alone. I am proof that even tradition allows room for a little unexpected colour.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
A pure Kanjeevaram silk saree in a rich teal, shading softly into deep green, ruled through with fine zari pinstripes. The border and pallu open into a vivid magenta-purple, with a striking bird-on-branch motif worked in multicolour threadwork, perched among grapes and florals in gold zari. The pallu carries a dense paisley and diamond lattice.

Care Instructions
Silk rewards patience. Dry clean for the first wash. After that, cold water and a gentle hand. Never wring it, never rush it. Dry in the shade — silk and sunlight are not friends. Iron on the reverse, low heat, while it is still slightly damp.
