Saree Story

I have never raised my voice. I have never needed to. I am Chandralekha, a stroke of moonlight on steel grey, and I have always known that cool is its own kind of power. My gold crescent butis were placed one by one across me by a weaver who understood restraint, each one a small certain mark of light on a ground that holds its colour the way conviction holds. My ogee pallu does not rush. It builds, the way a very good story does. I do not glow. I illuminate.

Handloom Perfection

Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.

Description

Chandralekha is the saree for the woman who has never needed to be the loudest thing in a room. Her steel grey katan body carries gold crescent butis scattered across it like the night sky seen from somewhere very quiet, each one placed with the deliberateness of something that has earned its position. The gold ogee pallu arrives in interlocking waves, rich and rhythmic, the kind of pattern that rewards looking closely and gives more each time. The layered gold border runs along both edges, structured and precise. Spare, certain and exactly enough.

Weaver

Rooted in the traditional weaving language of the cluster, Nazre Alam Ji is equally comfortable exploring contemporary designs, particularly fabrics and coordinated sets for salwar suits.

Fabric

Pure katan silk in steel grey, cool and luminous, the twisted silk threads carrying a depth that shifts between blue and grey depending on the light. The gold brocade pallu arrives in the same katan ground, now carrying the full weight of the ogee weave.

Technique

The scattered gold butis on the body are woven using the kadhua technique, each small crescent and floral form built individually into the katan ground thread by thread. The pallu carries a dense ogee lattice in gold brocade, wave upon interlocking wave of geometric richness. The layered border bands run in structured gold along both edges, the black selvedge at the very hem a single spare line that finishes everything cleanly.

Saree with Blouse Piece

Care Instructions

Silk rewards patience. Dry clean for the first wash. After that, cold water and a gentle hand. Never wring it, never rush it. Dry in the shade — silk and sunlight are not friends. Iron on the reverse, low heat, while it is still slightly damp.
