Bodhon: Statement Phulia Cotton
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
Bodhon is my name, for the sacred awakening that ushers in the goddess. A wide red border sweeps down one edge, while red paisleys trail through my body beside a fine black line. Phulia cotton keeps me soft and airy, the comfort of a classic made for every day. Tiny black and red paisleys dance along my other edge, and my pallu blushes into bands of rose and fine red stripes. Drape me and feel every festive beginning come alive.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
A Phulia handloom cotton saree in a soft ivory, light and breathable for everyday drape. A wide red border with red paisleys runs along one edge, with rows of red paisleys and black and red stripes through the body and a black and red paisley border along the other edge. The pallu features bands of rose and fine red stripes, finished with hand-twisted tassels in ivory and red. Equally charming at the workplace, a cultural evening or a festive get-together.
Weaver
Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
