Bahaar: Phulia Cotton with Jute Pallu
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
Bougainvillea spilling over a garden wall in every shade of pink gave my weaver his palette. My body glows a rich raspberry, finely lined and featherlight against the skin. Along my edge, stripes of orchid, fuchsia, red and deep indigo dance side by side. My pallu gathers bands of magenta and plum around a wide band of rosy jute, soft with natural slub. I am a garden that blooms wherever I go.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
A Phulia handloom cotton saree in rich raspberry pink with a fine self-stripe texture, light and breathable for everyday drape. The border is a lively play of orchid, fuchsia, red and indigo stripes. The pallu features bands of magenta, plum and pink framing a wide handwoven jute band with natural slub texture. Finished with hand-twisted multicolour tassels. Gentle hand wash in cold water or dry clean.

Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
