Saree Story

They named me Ankita, a mark worth remembering. My kattam is modern and smart, black and white trading places in small exact squares, giving me an identity that doesn't need explaining. Wear me to a night function, or your corporate event, I fit in without a glitch. But look closer and you will find my maroon, arriving at the border with all the chutzpah I was quietly saving. That flash of red is what stays with you long after I have left the room. I am the kind of mark you don't forget.

Handloom Perfection

Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.

Description

A pure Kanjeevaram silk saree in a fine black-and-white kattam (checked) weave. The korvai-woven border shifts into a deep maroon-red, worked as a temple gap border, a row of peacock and floral motifs set apart from a second gold-striped band by a clear pause of plain fabric.

Weaver

A community of master weavers and younger artisans in Kanchipuram, carrying forward a living heritage passed from one generation to the next, not in training centres but at the loom.

Fabric

Pure Kanjeevaram silk

Technique

Each saree is handwoven in pure Kanjeevaram silk, a craft native to Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu and passed down through generations of master weavers. The silk is known for its characteristic sheen, weight and durability, qualities that come only from handloom weaving rather than power loom production. Every motif, border and pallu is worked in fine zari, tested for purity and quality, ensuring the gold retains its lustre wear after wear. No two handwoven pieces are ever entirely identical, each one carrying the small, natural variations that come from being made by hand rather than machine.

Saree with Blouse Piece

Care Instructions

Silk rewards patience. Dry clean for the first wash. After that, cold water and a gentle hand. Never wring it, never rush it. Dry in the shade — silk and sunlight are not friends. Iron on the reverse, low heat, while it is still slightly damp.
