Ananya: Pure Katan Brocade Banarasi
By Ansari Ji
Saree Story
I have been waiting for you. And before you, I was waiting for your mother. I am Ananya. I do not do temporary. My pure katan silk was woven tight and close, the gold jangla flowering across every inch of me because I believed, even then, that some things are worth doing completely. I have held celebrations and quiet mornings and the kind of days that do not have names. I will hold yours too. My mauve runs deep, the way loyalty does, and my gold does not ask for occasions. It simply shows up, the same way I always will. And my magenta selvedge? That is the part of me that never grew up. The burst of joy I keep at the edge, just to remind you that forever does not have to be serious. I am the one who stays.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
There are sarees you buy for yourself and sarees you buy for your daughter. Ananya is both. Her deep mauve katan ground carries an all-over gold jangla jaal so abundant that the purple beneath it feels like a secret, a depth you find only when you look closely. Her gold brocade pallu arrives in geometric lattice, layer upon layer of considered richness that rewards every look. The magenta selvedge is her youth, the flash of joy that tells you she is not a museum piece. She is pure katan silk, built to be worn now and remembered forever. Some things do not age. They simply become more themselves.

Fabric
Pure katan silk, the gold standard of Banarasi weaving. Twisted silk threads woven tight and close, creating a fabric with structure, weight and a lustre that does not fade. The gold brocade sits inside the weave, not on top of it. This is the fabric that grandmothers open from steel trunks and daughters receive with both hands.
Technique
Saree with Blouse Piece
Full length saree with unstitched blouse piece; Blouse piece: 0.80 metre
Care Instructions
Silk rewards patience. Dry clean for the first wash. After that, cold water and a gentle hand. Never wring it, never rush it. Dry in the shade — silk and sunlight are not friends. Iron on the reverse, low heat, while it is still slightly damp.
