Saree Story

Green like this belongs to deep forest, not garden, dense and unhurried in how it sits. I keep my body plain, no stripe, no interruption, letting the colour speak entirely on its own. Have you noticed how a border can arrive like fire meeting leaves? Mine does, red flames rising sharp against the green, each peak identical to the last, none of them wavering. Below that, a solid band of crimson holds the line, calm after all that climbing heat. My weaver trusted the green enough to leave it alone, and let the border carry all the drama. I am Vanamala, forest at my centre, flame at my edge.

Handloom Perfection

Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.

Description

A pure handwoven Kanchipuram cotton in a deep bottle green canvas, bordered with a red temple flame motif and finished with a solid crimson band.

Weaver

A community of master weavers and younger artisans in Kanchipuram, carrying forward a living heritage passed from one generation to the next, not in training centres but at the loom.

Fabric

Pure handspun cotton, soft against the skin and light enough for everyday wear. The weave holds its shape through the day without losing the crispness that good cotton is known for, breathable in the warmth, easy to drape, and built to only get softer with every wash.

Technique

Handwoven on traditional pit looms in the Kanchipuram cluster, this saree is woven in pure cotton, carrying the same discipline and craftsmanship of Kanchipuram's silk weaving tradition. Every thread is handspun cotton, woven start to finish without a single machine touch.

Care Instructions

First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
