Call me Suryamukhi. Mustard is my cousin, and between us we've owned the market on warmth, spice and sunshine. I don't do subtle. Ivory flowers bloom across me like they've never heard the word restraint, and honestly, why should they. I already know where the light is. I've been standing in it my whole life. Suryamukhi holds her flowers close, ivory and soft grey blooming across a warm mustard canvas, tone resting on tone rather than reaching for contrast. Small diamond butti scatter through the body like something caught mid-thought. A fine striped border closes the drape without needing to raise its voice. This is pure muslin, unblended, off a loom that never compromises.

The motifs aren't printed, embroidered, or jacquard-automated. Each motif is inserted by hand directly into the weave, using a fine bamboo needle or small stick (called a kandul), as the base cloth is being woven. This is why it's sometimes described as embroidery worked into the loom itself, rather than on top of finished cloth.

Silk rewards patience. Dry clean for the first wash. After that, cold water and a gentle hand. Never wring it, never rush it. Dry in the shade — silk and sunlight are not friends. Iron on the reverse, low heat, while it is still slightly damp.
