Sharmili: Silver Paisley Buttis on Blush Pink Banarasi
By Naushad Ji
Saree Story
I am Sharmili, and I don't announce myself, I let you notice slowly. My blush pink sits quiet until the light finds my silver paisleys, small and evenly placed, like they're a little shy too. My border finally lets me speak a bit louder, a tonal band of silver florals and stripes, still soft, still restrained, but unmistakably there. I am not the saree that walks in first. I am the one people remember asking about later.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
Sharmili takes her name from the Hindi for shy, and this blush pink carries exactly that quality, soft and understated until the light catches its silver buttis. The body is pure Banarasi silk, scattered with small silver paisley motifs on a gentle pink ground, tonal rather than contrasting. The border shifts into a richer register, self-tone silver stripes and florals running its length, still soft in colour but denser in detail. Delicate, quiet, the kind of saree that reveals itself slowly rather than all at once.

Silk rewards patience. Dry clean for the first wash. After that, cold water and a gentle hand. Never wring it, never rush it. Dry in the shade — silk and sunlight are not friends. Iron on the reverse, low heat, while it is still slightly damp.
