Shagun: Fine Bengal Cotton with Statement Border
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
Shagun is my name, the blessing tucked into every celebration. My body glows a deep festive red, as joyful as a bride’s first smile. Down my edge, a mustard border carries red temple spires and tiny floral buttis like a string of prayers. Bands of saffron and fine red stripes dance across my pallu, warm as diya light. Wherever I go, good fortune follows.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
A Phulia handloom cotton saree in a rich festive red, light and breathable for everyday drape. A wide mustard border woven with red temple motifs and floral buttis runs along the length. The pallu features bands of saffron and fine red stripes, finished with hand-twisted red tassels. A joyful choice for weddings, pujas and festive gatherings.
Weaver
Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Fabric
Crafted from fine 100-count cotton yarn, prized for its exceptional softness, airy drape and feather-light feel. The finer the count, the finer the yarn—creating a fabric that is breathable without feeling coarse, with a graceful fall that only improves with every wash.

Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
