Sanjh: 100 count Cotton
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
Sanjh settles over the village, and the sky deepens to the colour of my body, a rich wine maroon. Bright red lines run across my pallu like the last streaks of a setting sun. Along my edge, a black border rests between twin bands where little fish swim beside star flowers in red resham. Soft and featherlight, I drape with the ease of an evening breeze. I am the hour when everyone comes home.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
A Phulia handloom cotton saree in deep wine maroon, light and breathable for graceful everyday drape. A black border runs between twin resham bands of red fish and star-flower motifs, edged with temple triangles. The pallu features layered bands of bright red stripes across the maroon. Finished with hand-twisted tassels in red and black. Gentle hand wash in cold water or dry clean.
Weaver
Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
