Rongali: Assam Handwoven Cotton
By Assam Weavers Nest
Saree Story
Magenta refuses to sit quietly on me, spilling into every kalka until the pattern hums louder than the cloth beneath it. My pallu holds two rows of paisley facing each other, dancing partners who never quite touch. Lilac and yellow stripes race down my border, a diamond trim keeping pace like laughter that won't slow down. Pink tassels crowd at my hem, tied close together the way friends stand for a photograph. I am Rongali, woven for the days that want to be loud about joy.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
An Assam handwoven cotton saree in mauve-pink. Bold kalka motifs in magenta are woven across the pallu in facing rows, framed by red diamond-trim borders. Small buttis in pink and yellow are scattered through the body, with a matching kalka panel repeated at the border. A striped lilac and yellow selvedge with a diamond trim runs the length of the drape, finished with a dense pink tassel fringe.
