Saree Story

Look at my pallu closely and you will find no single motif repeated twice in a row, triangles give way to circles, circles give way to chevrons, each band doing its own thing without ever losing the rhythm of the line above it. That discipline is what my name Rekha means, line after line, each one earning its place before the next begins. My body runs a soft off-white check, calm on purpose, so that all the detail can gather at my pallu instead of competing for attention throughout. I am a study in balance and I do not allow anyone to forget it.

Handloom Perfection

Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.

Description

A SICO pure handloom Kanjeevaram with an off-white checked body scattered with small woven motifs in soft pink and grey, and a deep magenta pallu carrying an elaborate multicoloured border of orange, gold and maroon stripes worked in geometric and chevron patterns. A green pinstripe runs along the very edge, grounding all that colour with a clean, contained line. The silk-cotton blend keeps the drape structured yet light, easy to wear through long hours while still carrying enough detail to hold its own at a festive gathering.

Weaver

Late Shri K. Veeraraghavan, a distinguished Kanchipuram handloom weaver, was honoured with the National Award in 1992 for his mastery of the Korvai technique. Today his sons carry that legacy forward.

Fabric

Silk Cotton Kanjeevaram

Technique

Handwoven on traditional Kanjeevaram looms in silk cotton, a blend that brings together the crispness of cotton and the sheen of silk in a single yarn. The body is woven with the check, stripe, or motif pattern specific to each piece, while the contrast border is joined using the traditional korvai three-shuttle interlock technique, the same method used in pure silk Kanjeevarams, giving strength at the seam without compromising the drape. Silk cotton makes the saree noticeably lighter than a pure silk Kanjeevaram, easier to manage through a full day while still carrying the structure and richness associated with the weave.

Care Instructions

Dry clean recommended for the first wash, especially if the saree has a zari or gold worked border, to preserve the colour and shine of the metallic thread. For later washes, hand wash gently in cold water using a mild detergent or shampoo, without soaking the saree for long periods.
