Rani: Pure Kanchipuram Cotton Saree

My colour needs no introduction, the pink that sindoor wears, the pink that gets noticed before anything else about me does. Have you seen how a border can hold two moods at once? Mine does, aubergine deepening into charcoal, stitched together with a gold vine that never once loses its rhythm. Look closely at my edge and you will find a row of small leaves, dark on dark, waiting patiently to be noticed. My weaver chose cotton so I could be worn often, not saved for one occasion and folded away for the rest of the year. Run your hand along my border and feel where the gold thickens, three bands of it, each one announcing itself a little louder than the last. I am Rani, and pink was always going to be my name.
