Saree Story

I am Rangini. I arrive in red the way a celebration does, fully and without apology, my white diamond butis scattered across me like small points of light. The geometric bands of my pallu build in white, chevron upon chevron, the weaver's way of saying something he has always known. My blush pink border is the quiet surprise, the softness underneath the confidence. My Bengal cotton keeps me light through long days, settling into the wearer like a quiet habit. I carry my colour openly and without restraint

Handloom Perfection

Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.

Description

Rangini is a vivid red Bengal cotton with white diamond butis scattered evenly across the body, each one placed with quiet precision against the bold field. The pallu arrives in dense white geometric bands — chevrons, arrows and horizontal stripes building into a graphic finish. A soft blush pink border runs along the edge, an unexpected tenderness against the confidence of the red. Made in fine Bengal cotton, she is warm and festive and entirely at ease with her own colour.

Weaver

Some of the designs woven in Phulia today were woven before partition, in a village that no longer exists on any map. They crossed the border not in a suitcase but in the memory of the weavers who carried them. That is what you wear when you wear a Phulia saree. Not just cloth. A memory that survived.

Days to make the saree

Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Fabric

Crafted from fine 100-count cotton yarn, prized for its exceptional softness, airy drape and feather-light feel. The finer the count, the finer the yarn—creating a fabric that is breathable without feeling coarse, with a graceful fall that only improves with every wash.

Technique

A 100-count Phulia cotton begins long before the first thread meets the loom. Fine cotton yarn is washed, starched and carefully stretched into a warp that leaves little room for error. Every pass of the shuttle demands unwavering rhythm and remarkable precision. The resham or zari border is not added later; it is woven into the saree itself, motif by motif, as the jacquard works in quiet harmony with the weaver's hands.
What feels effortless when draped is, in truth, the result of thousands of deliberate movements. Every inch carries the patience of the artisan, preserving a weaving tradition that has travelled across generations.

Saree with Blouse Piece

Comes with a blouse piece. We recommend pairing it with a sleeveless or short-sleeved blouse in crisp white to echo the butis or soft blush pink to draw out the border.

Care Instructions

First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
