Raktima: 100 count Phulia Cotton
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
I have never believed that elegance needs ornament. Give me the colour of vermilion, the depth of twilight, and the quiet certainty of a handloom—that is enough. My stripes are measured, my borders disciplined, my motifs restrained. I do not compete for attention. I simply become impossible to overlook. Woven from the finest hundred-count cotton, I am light enough to breathe with you through summer, yet enduring enough to return to your wardrobe, year after year. Some sarees are reserved for occasions. I am Raktima. I belong to your everyday rituals, growing softer with every wear and carrying your stories as naturally as I carry my own.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
Raktima does not whisper. She arrives with the confidence of vermilion—bold, unmistakable and timeless. Her brilliant crimson body is balanced by a deep aubergine border, where delicate woven motifs and measured stripes lend rhythm without demanding attention. Handwoven in Phulia from the finest 100-count cotton, she is feather-light yet enduring. Every thread carries the cool breathability and effortless drape that have made Phulia cottons a cherished part of Bengal's wardrobe for generations. For mornings that turn into evenings, celebrations that don't need grandeur, and everyday moments that deserve beauty.
Weaver
Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Fabric
Crafted from fine 100-count cotton yarn, prized for its exceptional softness, airy drape and feather-light feel. The finer the count, the finer the yarn—creating a fabric that is breathable without feeling coarse, with a graceful fall that only improves with every wash.
Technique
Saree with Blouse Piece
This saree doesn't come with a blouse piece. A sleeveless or short-sleeved blouse in black or crimson red complements this saree beautifully, creating an elegant, timeless silhouette.
Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
