Projapoti: Jamdani Weave on Finest Cotton
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
Ivory is my canvas, open as a garden waiting for its first visitors. Little turquoise and pink butterflies flutter across me, each one laid in by hand. Along my edge, a turquoise border with a fine lavender line keeps them close. Unfold my pallu and larger blooms open in turquoise and pink, with butterflies dancing between the bands. Featherlight on the skin, I move as lightly as wings in the breeze. I am Projapoti, playful in spirit and full of colour.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
A handwoven jamdani Phulia cotton saree in soft ivory with a turquoise border. Small butterfly buttis in turquoise and pink are scattered across the body. The border carries a fine lavender line alongside the turquoise. The pallu features large geometric floral buttas in alternating turquoise and pink. Bands of butterfly motifs, small buttis and turquoise stripes frame them above and below. Hand-knotted net tassels in ivory finish the end.
Weaver
Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree with handwoven jamdani takes around 2 to 3 weeks to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage, from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. The jamdani motifs are added thread by thread, with the weaver lifting the warp and laying in each extra weft by hand as the saree grows on the loom. What appears effortless when draped is the result of weeks of focused work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish. Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
