Saree Story
Maroon runs deep in me, the kind of red that has aged into something quieter and steadier. Down my length run pinstripes of pink and cream, close together, holding their line all the way to where a band of pure crimson takes over. Have you noticed how a border can rise like a mountain range? Mine does, peaks of maroon and cream climbing one after another, gold catching the light at each summit. My weaver let the peaks settle into calm at the very edge, an olive band with cream stripes, holding everything steady after all that climbing. I am Piyali, beloved as my name, steady as my colour.

Description
A pure handwoven Kanchipuram cotton in a deep maroon canvas, ruled through with fine pink and cream pinstripes running the length of the body, with a solid crimson band before the border. The border rises in a dense triangular temple motif in maroon, cream and gold, settling into an olive band with cream stripes at the very edge.

Fabric

Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
