Saree Story

Noor, they named me, for the light I seem to gather and give back. Run your fingers over me and feel kora silk as fine as a whisper, sheer enough to hold a glow within. Tiny gold buttas drift across me in gentle rows, each one coaxed onto the loom by hand. At my hem, a line of golden leaves stands like a garden, leading into a pallu of shimmering zari. Pure as a first prayer, I am made for the moments you will keep forever.

Handloom Perfection

Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.

Description

A pure organza Banarasi in soft ivory white, handwoven on the looms of Banaras. Delicate kadhua buttis in gold zari are woven in graceful rows across a sheer, luminous canvas. The border carries a procession of leaf motifs above a fine zari bel. The pallu glows in a broad panel of gold brocade, lit by fine silver-toned pinstripes. A timeless heirloom for weddings, pujas and celebrations of new beginnings.

Weaver

Although Naushad ji maintains a limited public profile, he represents the kind of weaving family that forms the backbone of the Mubarakpur cluster. Deep technical knowledge, family-run looms, and generations of experience in Banarasi weaving.

Fabric

Pure organza (kora silk): woven from highly twisted, ungummed raw silk yarn, which gives the fabric its signature sheerness, crisp hand and subtle sheen. Lightweight and structured, it drapes with volume while staying featherlight.

Technique

Each buti is woven using the kadhua technique, a supplementary weft method where the motif thread is worked individually into the ground without carrying floats across the back of the fabric. This is among the most labour-intensive methods in Banarasi weaving — no shortcuts, no continuous threads, only the accumulated patience of the loom

Saree with Blouse Piece

Full length saree with unstitched blouse piece; Blouse piece: 0.80 metre

Care Instructions

Silk rewards patience. Dry clean for the first wash. After that, cold water and a gentle hand. Never wring it, never rush it. Dry in the shade — silk and sunlight are not friends. Iron on the reverse, low heat, while it is still slightly damp.
