Mehfil: Phulia Cotton with Jute Pallu
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
Mehfil is my name, for evenings when music, poetry and laughter fill a room. Each stripe along my edge sings its own note in orange, teal, plum and grey. My body settles into a deep indigo blue, soft Phulia cotton that falls in easy pleats. Within my pallu, bands of violet, cocoa and teal cradle a misty blue-grey canvas of textured jute. Drape me and the gathering begins.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
A Phulia handloom cotton saree in a deep indigo blue, light and breathable for everyday drape. A wide multicolour striped border in orange, teal, plum and grey runs along the length. The pallu features bands of violet, cocoa and teal framing a wide handwoven jute panel in blue-grey with natural slub texture. Finished with hand-twisted tassels in indigo and mixed hues.
Weaver
Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
