Saree Story

I was not woven to be worn once and folded away. I am marigold, the colour offered at the feet of the divine, and I carry myself the way an offering does, with intention, not haste. Look closely at my body and you will find veldhari, waves that bend and dip, each curve holding a small dot of gold like a thought completed before the next begins. This is an old hand's work, a layout not every weaver still remembers, let alone attempts. My border was woven apart from me and joined by hand, magenta deepening into a red that has the weight of ceremony in it. Elephants process along my edge the way they once processed before kings. I am not made for a single wearer. I am made to be taken out on the days that matter, worn with care, and passed on when the time comes, so that someone not yet born will one day stand in me the way you do now. Grand enough for a goddess, precious enough to outlast us both.

Handloom Perfection

Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.

Description

A pure Kanjeevaram silk saree in a vivid marigold yellow, woven in the celebrated veldhari layout, fine wavy zigzag lines with delicate dots resting in each curve, a vintage technique reserved for the most considered pieces. The korvai-woven border opens into a rich magenta shifting to deep red, densely worked in gold zari with a row of elephants, rudraksham buttis and floral medallions running along the pallu.

Weaver

A community of master weavers and younger artisans in Kanchipuram, carrying forward a living heritage passed from one generation to the next, not in training centres but at the loom.

Fabric

Pure Kanjeevaram silk

Technique

Each saree is handwoven in pure Kanjeevaram silk, a craft native to Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu and passed down through generations of master weavers. The silk is known for its characteristic sheen, weight and durability, qualities that come only from handloom weaving rather than power loom production. Every motif, border and pallu is worked in fine zari, tested for purity and quality, ensuring the gold retains its lustre wear after wear. No two handwoven pieces are ever entirely identical, each one carrying the small, natural variations that come from being made by hand rather than machine.

Care Instructions

Silk rewards patience. Dry clean for the first wash. After that, cold water and a gentle hand. Never wring it, never rush it. Dry in the shade — silk and sunlight are not friends. Iron on the reverse, low heat, while it is still slightly damp.
