Madira: Statement Phulia Cotton
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
Madira is my name, rich and deep as wine poured into a crystal glass. Rows of ivory paisleys trail down my body, each line edged with a ribbon of soft blush. Phulia cotton makes me supple and airy, a gentle embrace that lasts the whole day. One edge is woven with ivory leaves on a dotted wine canvas, and my pallu sparkles with bands of fine ivory stripes. Savour me slowly; I only get better with every drape.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
A Phulia handloom cotton saree in a rich wine, light and breathable for everyday drape. Vertical rows of ivory paisleys edged with blush stripes run through the body, with a border of ivory leaf motifs on a dotted wine canvas along one edge. The pallu features bands of fine ivory stripes, finished with hand-twisted tassels in black and ivory. Equally charming at the workplace, a cultural evening or a festive get-together.
Weaver
Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
