Lipi: Statement Phulia Cotton
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
Lipi is my name, for the script a weaver writes in thread. Line by line, maroon and coral cross my ivory like notes on a ruled page. Phulia cotton keeps me light and airy, easy on the skin from desk to dinner. My border signs off in a bold flourish of maroon on one side and coral on the other, and my pallu gathers fine red lines into a soft blush. Read me once and you will know I was made for today.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
A statement Phulia handloom cotton saree in ivory, designed for the modern wardrobe with crisp lines of maroon, coral and blush. Vertical stripes and broken horizontal lines form an abstract grid across the body, edged with a bold border in maroon on one side and coral on the other. The pallu carries fine red pinstripes that soften into a wash of colour, finished with ivory tassels. Style it with a sleek sleeveless blouse for boardroom polish that carries effortlessly into cocktail hour, or switch to a classic blouse and gold jewellery for festive and family occasions.
Weaver
Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish. Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
