Saree Story

Jasmine, do I look like a flower at all? Just my muse's fancy, he carries a romantic view of the name and calls me his mistress. Regal enough to have never walked anywhere, always carried instead. My red silk never lets go of your eyes, a few gold palkis resting across my body to demand attention. My border, the gold stripe, carries a confidence that needs no explaining. Woven in mango silk with kadhua work built into every motif, I hold my shape and shine effortlessly. I was always going somewhere important, I just prefer to arrive in style.

Handloom Perfection

Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.

Description

Jasmine wears the name the way she wears everything else, with a raised eyebrow and no real objection. Her red silk canvas is left mostly bare, a deliberate kind of confidence, with a handful of gold palki motifs in kadhua work scattered across her like she couldn't be bothered to fill every inch just to prove a point. Her border and pallu switch to a structured gold stripe, running the length of her with the same unbothered certainty as the rest of her. Nothing about Jasmine is loud, and nothing about her needs to be, the mango silk does the talking on her behalf.

Weaver

National Award-winning master weaver Nurul Ji turns colour silk threads into poetry. Thread by thread, his Tanchoi Butidaar sarees bloom with hundreds of delicate motifs woven directly into the silk, each one a testament to extraordinary heritage kept alive through his hands.

Fabric

Woven in pure soft satin silk, carrying a natural, warm sheen that shifts with the light rather than shouting for attention. It has enough body to hold its shape through a full day of being looked at, without ever weighing her down.

Technique

This is a kadhua weave, where each motif is built individually into the fabric using the extra weft technique, giving the paisleys their raised, textured quality rather than a flat printed look. This saree comes from the loom of Nurul Ji, whose command over kadhua work shows in how solidly each paisley holds its shape and colour across the dense border and pallu, built to be worn and handed down without losing its character.

Saree with Blouse Piece

Full length saree with unstitched blouse piece, approx. 0.8 metre

Care Instructions

Silk rewards patience. Dry clean for the first wash. After that, cold water and a gentle hand. Never wring it, never rush it. Dry in the shade — silk and sunlight are not friends. Iron on the reverse, low heat, while it is still slightly damp.
