Chitthi: Statement Phulia Cotton
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
Chitthi is my name, a letter sent from the loom with love. Red lines rise across my ivory like the margins of a page, while dashes of charcoal and blush fill in the words between. Phulia cotton makes me soft and breezy, light enough to carry through the longest day. I am signed in red along one edge and charcoal along the other, and my pallu flows with fine pinstripes of red and black. Open me and the message is yours to keep.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
A statement Phulia handloom cotton saree in ivory, a modern piece composed in lines of red, charcoal and blush. Vertical red stripes and staggered dashes form a graphic brick-like grid across the body, edged in red on one side and charcoal on the other. The pallu is woven with fine red and black pinstripes and finished with ivory tassels. A crisp sleeveless blouse lends it sharp office elegance that glides into evening plans, while a traditional blouse and gold jewellery make it festival ready.
Weaver
Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish. Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
