Saree Story

I hold the black of a sky with no moon in it, the kind of dark that gold was made to sit against. Birds rest across my body, each one worked in gold thread fine enough to show every feather, a single red mark catching the eye. Small gold buds float between them, scattered like something left mid-thought. My pallu breaks into a wide field of gold and black stripes, dense enough to hold its own weight. My border runs gold, plain and certain, asking for nothing more than what it already has. I was woven for the person who enters a room the way night enters a sky, without permission, without apology.

Handloom Perfection

Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.

Description

A pure silk Chanderi saree in a deep black, with gold-thread birds finished in a red eye accent scattered across the body alongside small gold buds. The pallu opens into a dense tissue-weave field of gold and black stripes, finished with a plain gold zari border.

Weaver

Chanderi’s signature lies in its delicacy. Fine yarns are woven into a fabric that feels weightless yet holds its form beautifully. The translucent surface catches light without becoming loud, an elegance created through experienced hands at the loom.

Fabric

Pure Silk Chanderi: 100% silk threads in the vertical warp and horizontal weft for a fluid, luxurious drape.

Technique

Pure silk Chanderi weaving is a traditional handloom technique from Madhya Pradesh that uses fine, non-degummed silk threads in both the warp and the weft to create a lightweight, sheer, and lustrous fabric. The raw silk yarn is not degummed (the natural gum is left on), which gives the fabric its signature crispness and transparent look. Fine gold, silver, or copper zari is woven directly into the fabric to produce a soft, regal shine. Artisans use individual needles on handlooms to handweave nature-inspired patterns like coin (ashrafi) designs, peacocks, florals, and geometric shapes.

Care Instructions

ilk rewards patience. Dry clean for the first wash. After that, cold water and a gentle hand. Never wring it, never rush it. Dry in the shade — silk and sunlight are not friends. Iron on the reverse, low heat, while it is still slightly damp.
