Madhoshi: Lightweight Kadhuwa Benarasi
By Naushad Ji
Saree Story
I am Madhoshi, and I was never meant to be sensible. My wine runs deep enough to feel a little dangerous, the kind of red that shows up uninvited and doesn't apologise. Fine gold pinstripes with delicate leaf vines run my full length, trying very hard to look disciplined. They don't quite manage it. My border is where I stop pretending, a dense cascade of gold florals and vines, generous and a little indulgent, spilling along my edge like it couldn't be contained any longer. I don't ask to be noticed. I make it impossible not to be.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
Madhoshi takes her name from the Hindi for intoxicated, heady, and this deep wine Banarasi earns it. The body carries fine gold pinstripes threaded with delicate leaf motifs, running the full length in neat, orderly lines. The border breaks that restraint completely, a dense band of gold florals and vines spilling generously along the edge, richly worked against the wine base. Bold and a little indulgent, built for the evenings that call for a saree with some heat in it.

Silk rewards patience. Dry clean for the first wash. After that, cold water and a gentle hand. Never wring it, never rush it. Dry in the shade — silk and sunlight are not friends. Iron on the reverse, low heat, while it is still slightly damp.
