Shefali: Pistachio Green Handwoven Jamdani
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
Shefali's Story: They named me Shefali, after the flower that blooms at night and carpets the ground by morning. My weaver knew her well. She grows in every para in Bengal, never asking to be noticed and always noticed anyway. He planted me row by row on the loom, and if you count my flowers you will find no two exactly alike. Hands are not machines, and gardens are not grids. Wear me on a day that deserves softness. I will do the rest.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
Named for the shefali flower that blooms quietly at night, white petals on slender stems, this jamdani carries a whole garden on its pallu. Rows of white flowers rise on grey-green stems, each one inserted by hand in the extra weft. The body is a soft pistachio canvas, finely striped and scattered with diamond butis, light and translucent the way only Phulia muslin can be. A striped border runs alongside like a garden path. No extra adornments, only patience and thread. Pure cotton muslin, fine enough to move like air, woven on the looms of Phulia. Easy to drape, easy to live in, made for any time of the day. One garment. Two authors.

Care Instructions
Silk rewards patience. Dry clean for the first wash. After that, cold water and a gentle hand. Never wring it, never rush it. Dry in the shade — silk and sunlight are not friends. Iron on the reverse, low heat, while it is still slightly damp.
