Sarasi: 100 count Phulia Cotton
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
I am Sarasi. I borrowed my blue from still waters and my gold from the first light of harvest. My colours may brighten a room, but my hundred-count weave from Phulia keeps me rooted in quiet craftsmanship. I move lightly, breathe easily and grow softer with every wear. I wear joy openly, but never without grace. I simply carry a little sunshine wherever I go.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
The blue of still waters meets the warmth of ripened grain in a colour pairing that feels both vibrant and serene. Delicate resham pinstripes travel across the turquoise body, while the mustard-gold pallu and intricately woven border lend richness without overwhelming the simplicity of the weave. Handwoven in 100-count Phulia cotton, Sarasi is feather-light, breathable and effortlessly graceful. The exceptionally fine yarn gives it a fluid drape while preserving the crisp character that has made Phulia handloom one of Bengal's most treasured traditions.
Weaver
Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Fabric
Crafted from fine 100-count cotton yarn, prized for its exceptional softness, airy drape and feather-light feel. The finer the count, the finer the yarn—creating a fabric that is breathable without feeling coarse, with a graceful fall that only improves with every wash.
Technique
Saree with Blouse Piece
This saree does not come with a blouse piece. We recommend pairing it with a sleeveless or short-sleeved blouse in mustard gold to echo the pallu, or turquoise blue for an elegant monochrome silhouette.
Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
