Naktamala: 100 count Phulia with Statement Border
By Phulia's Padma Shri Cluster
Saree Story
I am Naktamala. My colours have always belonged together, magenta and navy the way twilight belongs to the first evening star. Along my resham border, stars and chevrons move in quiet rhythm, the weaver's way of remembering the skies he has known all his life. Woven in the hundred-count cotton of Phulia, I stay light through the longest days, settling around you as naturally as a familiar thought. I never wait for the right occasion. I simply arrive and the ordinary begins to feel extraordinary.
Handloom Perfection
Handloom sarees are made by human hands, not machines. Which means every piece carries the natural variations of the loom and the weaver, proof that someone, somewhere, made this just for you.
Description
Naktamala is a vivid magenta Phulia cotton with a deep navy pallu and a resham border carrying layered rows of star florals, chevrons and geometric motifs in magenta and navy woven close and fine. The two colours sit at opposite ends of the drape and meet at the border, which holds them together without forcing the conversation. Made in fine 100-count cotton from Phulia, she is light and luminous and grows more beautiful with every wear. The twisted fringe at the hem falls in both magenta and navy, the last word in a saree that has many.
Weaver
Days to make the saree
Every 100-count Phulia cotton saree takes around 8–12 days to complete. Fine cotton yarns demand patience at every stage—from preparing the warp to weaving each delicate pick by hand. What appears effortless when draped is the result of more than a week's work by artisans whose families have perfected this craft over generations.

Fabric
Crafted from fine 100-count cotton yarn, prized for its exceptional softness, airy drape and feather-light feel. The finer the count, the finer the yarn—creating a fabric that is breathable without feeling coarse, with a graceful fall that only improves with every wash.

Care Instructions
First Wash: Dry clean for the first wash to preserve the finish and the zari or resham border. Thereafter: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods. Do Not: Use bleach, harsh detergents, or wring the saree aggressively, as fine-count cotton fibres deserve gentle handling. Drying: Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight, to retain the richness of the colours. Ironing: Iron on a medium cotton setting while the saree is slightly damp, or use steam for the best finish. Storage: Fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place. If the saree has a zari border, wrap it in a soft muslin cloth and avoid storing it in plastic. Refold it occasionally to prevent permanent creases.
